Taking the step to begin counseling can be quite difficult. People are usually curious and apprehensive about many aspects of the counseling journey before they decide to begin. They generally wonder what therapy may be like, if the therapist is going to be a good fit, and many other things. Having an initial phone call is a good way to get many of these questions answered. The initial phone call is free of charge. During the initial phone conversation you will likely be asked for basic information so that a general description of your current struggles can be identified and the best course of treatment can be determined.
APPOINTMENT
The first appointment is typically 50-55 minutes long. During this initial appointment you will be able to discuss what brought you to counseling and what your hopes are for counseling. We will also get to know one another a bit. These things will help to better determine if we are a good fit to move forward with therapy.
Moving forward, therapy sessions are 50-55 minutes in length and typically occur once a week. This is discussed normally in the first meeting to ensure the treatment is best for you. If at any point we determine that we are not a good fit, you will be referred to someone who may be a better fit and may have more expertise in a given area.
